THINGS FALL APART DAY 2021

In the year 2020, the Centre For Memories declared June 17 “Things Fall Apart Day” to commemorate the day on which Chinua Achebe’s masterpiece “Things Fall Apart” was published.

This year, we have put together an online event to mark the 63rd anniversary of the publication of the great African novel. The event is themed “Igwebụike: Communalism in Chinua Achebe's "Things Fall Apart".

As part of activities to mark Things Fall Apart Day 2021, we have a Social Media Challenge for our followers to contest and stand a chance to win a cash prize of N20,000.

To win, post ANY of the following on your Facebook page using #CFMThingsFallApartDay2021 and tag us (Ncheta Ndigbo).

Option 1: In 50-100 words, write an alternative ending to Things Fall Apart.

Option 2: In 50-100 words, write about your favourite character in the book giving reasons why the character is your favourite.

Option 3: Translate 2-3 paragraphs of the book to Igbo and upload a video of yourself reading the passage.

Option 4: Upload a video (no longer than 2 minutes) of you delivering a monologue from the book.

The post with the highest likes as at Thursday June 24, 2021 wins.

NB: Video entries could be disqualified for inaccurate translation.
