M.I POWER: THE LEGEND AND THE LEGACY

Throughout Nigeria’s history, one of the most resolute and selfless leaders we have ever experienced is the late Dr Michael Iheonukara Okpara. He was the leader of the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC) and also the premier of Eastern Nigeria from 1959-1966.

Dr Okpara’s selflessness was very visible to the blind and audible to the deaf. The effect of his exemplary leadership was felt everywhere around the Eastern region, a region that became one of the fastest-growing economies in the world at that time.

The Centre for Memories, in collaboration with Alto Historical Media, and in keeping with her mandate of preserving and documenting Igbo history has put together a documentary titled: MI POWER: THE LEGEND AND THE LEGACY. The documentary captures the life and times of the legendary servant-leader, Dr Michael Iheonukara Okpara. The premiere of this documentary will hold this December to mark his posthumous centenary birthday.
